Gluten Free Diet and Appetite Suppression


 The most common changes noted is appetite cravings suppression with the gluten free diet. When gluten is removed from the diet, hunger pangs seem to disappear rapidly.  This makes it easier to stay on the diet and continue to lose weight. While other diets have their followers starving between meals, the Gluten Free diet offers relief from constant hunger. 

The increase of protein in the Gluten Free diet is a big component of the diet. Having a higher protein intake helps to counter the effect of carbohydrates on the blood sugar levels which causes a reduction in in hunger. Eating a high carbohydrate meal raises your blood sugar for a short time and you feel full until the blood sugar begins to fall and you are hungry again. By reducing the carbohydrates and increasing the protein intake with some good animal fat you will have appetite suppression for longer periods of time. 
 
Appetite suppression can be increased by eating eggs which is a major food in the gluten free diet. since protein is a major part of the diet, eggs are a excellent food type which is easy to make. Studies have shown that eating eggs in the morning helps to suppress the appetite all day long. Two groups of women which were studied. One group ate eggs for breakfast and the other had a breakfast of bagels and cream cheese. Although they ate different food type, the calorie amount was the same for both groups. All the women kept track of everything they ate during the day and answered questions about their hunger cravings. The results proved that the women that ate eggs for breakfast had less cravings throughout the day. They ate less at each meal than the women who were in the bagel group. 
 
Eggs contain about 6 grams of protein each. Eating eggs helps to keep the blood sugar level causing a reduction in appetite. Suppression of the appetite is helped by both of these factors. Egg yolks also contain lutein and xenazanthin. The effects of these two nutrients on the eyes have been shown to be incredible for eye health. So it’s important to eat the whole egg, and not just the white. Brain function and memory are helped by another nutrient,choline, which are found in eggs. Appetite suppression is enhanced due too benefits of these nutrients. 
 
Low glycemic vegetables, such as broccoli and cauliflower, help to suppress the appetite. These vegetables are very bulky and they help make your stomach feel full. When your stomach feels full, it will actually create a chemical response in your body. The body believes there are high calorie foods in the stomach which causes a reduction in appetite. This will happen regardless of what is in your stomach. You can achieve the same results with water and psyllium husk fiber. That is why cauliflower and broccoli's bulk is so important and are essential vegetables for a gluten Free diet.  
 
The Gluten Free diet focuses on eating small protein balanced meals a few times per day. This will help to keep your blood sugar levels balanced and avoid cravings for carbohydrates. Blood sugar balance is very important if you want to have appetite suppression. After you eat, you feel great and full. When this happens, the blood sugar levels go up and then a few hours later you crash from eating the high amount of carbohydrates making you hungrier than before. This cycle continues and, over time, you will eat more and gain weight. The protein, fat and vegetable meals of the Non-gluten diet plan put your blood sugar back in balance. They provide just enough of each type of food, with a proper amount of carbohydrates (from the vegetables). The protein will reduce the appetite while the vegetables will give an increase of energy. This is why a meals like this cause suppression of appetite.  
 
The Gluten Free diet is actually a craving control diet that can help suppress your appetite. If you’ve had a problem with carbohydrate cravings before, this new way of eating will help control those cravings. The more you eat on the plan, the better your cravings will be controlled and the easier it will be to follow the diet.
